SEATTLE! Don't miss Seattle native, Yola Jean Lu, do her new hour! Filled with dark, stupid & absurd jokes, Yola finds the humor in some of the touchiest subject matter. With topics ranging from being Asian in America, to her ultimate dream of dating a magician, Yola talks about it all and doesn't need to rely on cheap punchlines.

"Dumb Asian" is not a show that makes fun of Asians, quite the opposite actually. Oftentimes, Asians are seen as the Model Minority in America. But there is no such thing as "good" stereotypes, because if you don't fit into that specific narrative, then often times people are made to feel like outsiders. Yola would proudly consider herself dumb (real example: she got a 1.0 GPA in college once), but she doesn't see it as a bad thing. This show wants to change the narrative surrounding Asians in America, and inspire conversation and laughter through jokes, personal experiences and failures. The show runs June 27 + 28 at 7:30pm, and June 29th at 2pm.

About the Writer/Performer:
Yola Jean Lu is an Austin, TX based comedian, but got her start in Seattle. She enjoys challenging herself to write material that often explores the intersection between comedy and vulnerability. She has been honored to be part of festivals like the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival, Out of Bounds, and SF Sketchfest. Yola is the 2022 Best Actress winner in the Austin Chronicle, and her most recent hour had its debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year, and then went on to win "Best of Fest" at Austin's 2025 Frontera Festival.
